Oil Price Today
Brent crude, tracked against the Iran conflict and Strait of Hormuz shipping that keeps moving it.
Trend
- Sep 7: $97, Six-week high, Hormuz strikes
- Sep 19: $99.29
- Sep 21: $100.06, Latest
Brent has spent 2026 tracking the US-Iran conflict almost tick for tick. The April ceasefire briefly knocked prices down sharply; when the fighting resumed and the US struck Iran directly in July, prices surged back. By early September, strikes in the Strait of Hormuz, a chokepoint for a large share of the world’s seaborne oil, had pushed Brent to a six-week high and cut shipping traffic through the strait to roughly a tenth of its normal volume.
The slide since that September peak has coincided with renewed diplomatic efforts, though the ceasefire that briefly calmed markets earlier this year has already proven unstable once before. We’re tracking the price, not predicting where the diplomacy goes next.
